Galley Flash Rowing Club Road Race

The Galley Flash Rowing Club hosts a 9 km road race and walk on Easter Sunday. The event takes place on an officially measured course that has received Athletics Ireland accreditation and permit approval. The route begins and ends at the Galley Flash Rowing Clubhouse located at Kilkern Lake in Rathbarry. This location is situated on the outskirts of Rosscarbery and Clonakilty in West Cork.

Participants follow a course that moves along the road by the shores of the Long Strand. The route also includes a 2 km section passing through the woods in Castlefreke. Runners and walkers can expect varying terrain throughout the course.

This athletic event serves as a fundraiser for the Galley Flash Rowing Club. The revenue generated from entry fees is designated for the purchase of new rowing boats for the club's underage teams. Post race refreshments and a prize giving ceremony are held at the clubhouse following the conclusion of the event.

Open registration is available for individuals aged 15 years and older. Participants who are not registered members of Athletics Ireland are required to purchase a one day license during the registration process in accordance with national athletic regulations.
