Event Overview
The first Galley Flash 9km Road Race & Walk will be held on Easter Sunday, the 5th of April 2026. It is an officially measured and Athletics Ireland accredited 9 km course.
Course Details
The race starts and finishes at the Galley Flash Rowing Clubhouse on Kilkern Lake, in the Rathbarry area on the outskirts of Rosscarbery and Clonakilty in West Cork. The route takes participants along the road by the Long Strand beach and passes through woods in Castlefreke. Parts of the course are described as challenging. Refreshments and a prize-giving will be available at the finish line.
Event Information
The entry fee is €16.50, plus a processing fee. All proceeds go towards purchasing rowing boats for the Galley Flash Underage Rowing teams. The minimum entry age is 15 years old. Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. Participants who are not registered with Athletics Ireland are required to purchase a €2 One Day Licence during registration; this fee goes directly to Athletics Ireland.
