Event Overview

This is the 38th annual Galax Autumn Days 5K Run, taking place on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The event features two distances.

Race Details

The event includes a 5K Run (3.1 miles) and a 1-Mile Fun Run for children 12 & under. The entry fee for the 5K is $20 if postmarked by October 14, 2026, and $25 from October 15 through race day. This fee includes a t-shirt. The 1-Mile Kid's Race is free, but does not include a t-shirt.

Registration

Registration will be held on race day from 8:00 AM to 9:45 AM in the gymnasium at Felts’ Park. The 5K registration closes at 9:45 AM, and the 1-Mile Kid’s Race registration closes at 8:45 AM.

Awards

Awards are given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each male and female age group. Overall winners receive special awards. Bonus awards are available for breaking the male or female overall and master’s course records. There are also separate awards for Master Runners (age 40+) and Super Master winners (age 60+). The policy states that no double-dipping awards are given in age groups or masters divisions.

Course

Both races start and finish in Felts’ Park at 601 South Main Street in Galax, Virginia. The 5K course is described as flat, following Chestnut Creek, with a half-mile stretch run on the New River State Park trail.
