Gainesville High School Cardinal 5K Run/Walk
The Gainesville High School Cardinal 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for May 23, 2026 and is presented as the 3rd Annual event sponsored by the Gainesville High School PTSO. The PTSO aims to strengthen and support the school community by volunteering in classrooms, assisting with funding school projects, and organizing student and staff events; funds raised will go directly to the PTSO for future student and teacher incentives.
The race takes place on the campus of Gainesville High School at 13150 University Blvd, Gainesville, VA 20155, with timing provided by 5Runners Racing. The start and finish are located near the football stadium entrance. All ages are welcome; strollers are allowed and dogs are not permitted. Race bib and packet pickup occur on race day. Participants registered by May 3 are guaranteed a T shirt. The first 100 finishers receive a custom finisher medal, and all race finishers receive a free 12 oz Kona Ice.
Awards include overall male and female plus overall awards in Youth, Adult, and Senior categories. Additional event elements include a race contest for patriotic race gear with a Visa gift card prize and an on site coffee truck operated by Travelin' Tom's.
