Event Details

The Fur Love for Vets event is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026. It will take place in Augusta, Georgia, at the Lake Olmstead Trailhead (1 Milledge Rd.). The event is dog, stroller, and family-friendly. Participants can choose between a 5k and a 10k run/walk along the Augusta Canal and the Savannah River. The 10k starts at 9:00 a.m. and the 5k starts at 9:15 a.m.

Registration costs $30 through October 1, 2026, and then increases to $35 through race day. A portion of the event's proceeds will be donated to Train a Dog Save a Warrior (TADSAW), an organization that provides service dogs to wounded veterans at no charge.

Race Information

The event will be chip-timed, with awards based on gun times. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in multiple age categories, ranging from 14 and under to 70 and older. Finisher medals and shirts will be ordered on October 1, 2026; registrations after this date are not guaranteed these items.

Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, November 6, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fleet Feet Augusta (229 Furys Ferry Road). It will also be available on race morning starting at 7:00 a.m. at the Lake Olmstead Trailhead. Registration will be accepted at packet pickup. Water will be available on the course at each turnaround point.

Participant Guidelines

For safety, all dogs attending must be on a fixed leash (no flexi-leashes) and must be non-reactive to people, dogs, and wildlife. Dogs displaying fearful or aggressive behavior will be asked to leave. Participants are asked to clean up after their dogs. In case of inclement weather, there may be a 30-minute delay to the start of the race. Results will be posted online by 3 p.m. on race day.
