MSG Gary Gordon Challenge
The Cyber Center of Excellence presents the MSG Gary Gordon Challenge at Fort Gordon, GA. The event combines a team 5K with integrated task stations and separate 5K runs offered as timed and untimed options. The location is Brainard Avenue, Fort Gordon.
The team event runs as a 5K where two person teams complete a series of graded task stations along the route. Tasks include burpees, a quarter mile track sprint, sandbag loading of 24 bags, body squats, deadlifts with specified weights, a 20 ft rope climb for each competitor, 50 m water can carries, pull ups, a 160 m sled drag with a 90 lb sled, push ups, and a kettle bell to litter carry involving four sandbags. Teams must complete designated repetitions as teams or individuals where specified. Penalty exercises apply when a lane is not attempted: even numbered lanes incur 100 mountain climbers and odd numbered lanes incur 25 eight count push ups.
Uniform requirements differ by event. Team competitors wear ACUs and boots, a plate carrier of at least 25 lb, gloves, and a hydration system; headgear is not permitted. 5K participants wear appropriate running clothes and shoes. Competition uses staggered team wave starts and a common start for 5K runners. Overall time is recorded at the administration tent and station graders track completions and deductions. Non DoD visitors must obtain a visitor pass at least 24 hours in advance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
