FSRC Independence 5000
The FSRC Independence 5000 is a club 5K held at Riverside Park in Frederick, Maryland on July 4, 2026. The event takes place at 1801 Monocacy Boulevard and uses a paved out and back course through the park. The race is described as low-amenity and low-key.
Registration opens May 1, 2026 and closes on race day. Free entry is offered to paid FSRC members who hold an active membership on race day; registration access for members is handled through the club registration system. Race day registration is allowed but must be completed online on a personal device; there are no paper forms or on-site registration kiosks.
The event will be chip timed. Volunteers will scan bibs at the finish as a backup to resolve any missed chip reads. There are two water stops along the course. Participants should park in the lot at Riverside and pick up bibs there.
The Independence 5000 counts toward the FSRC Grand Prix. Awards are given in low-budget format to top overall finishers by clock time and to age group finishers by net time. Overall divisions include male, female, and non-binary. Age group divisions include 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus. Participants are asked to bring a food item to share after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
