Fruita Trail Half Marathon
The Fruita Trail Half Marathon is a 13.8 mile loop on flowy singletrack in the North Fruita Desert near Fruita, Colorado. The course includes nearly 1,000 feet of climbing and is run counterclockwise, with multiple switchbacks, short steep climbs and descents, and frequent views of nearby buttes and mesas.
The loop is served by three aid stations at the following mileage points: Chutes and Ladders (3.5 miles), Frontside (7.5 miles), and Western (11.4 miles). Aid stations provide gels, sports drink, water, skittles, and potato chips. Cups are not provided. Radio contact and basic medical supplies are available at each aid station.
The race is part of the Adventure Fest weekend held at the North Fruita Desert trailhead. Weekend activities include mountain bike races such as the Sarlacc Attack and the Dirty Edge Gravel 50K, canyoneering outings, clinics and group rides, kids races, campfire gatherings, and awards events. Camping is available for registered participants; campsites include a fire ring, concrete picnic table, a 12 by 12 foot tent pad, and graveled parking. Vault toilets are nearby. There is no water, electricity, or garbage collection at campsites and sites are limited to ten people and two vehicles.
Finishers receive a customized dog tag memento at the finish line. Top three male and female finishers in each age group receive customized cowbell awards. Awards and mementos will not be mailed after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
