Grand Valley Oncology - Life In Color 5K
This event is a charity 5K run and walk in Grand Junction supporting Grand Valley Oncology. Funds raised will go to the Gas & Lodging program, which provides travel assistance and lodging for out of town patients seeking oncology care.
The course covers roughly three and a half loops around the perimeter of the Community Hospital and uses a mix of road, sidewalk and gravel path. The route includes color powder stations where participants pass through showers of food grade colored powder.
There are two entry options on the same course:
- Timed 5K, 3.1 miles, includes a timing chip on the bib and will be placed in the first wave.
- Fun Run Walk, 3.1 miles, untimed and without a bib.
Logistics noted by the organizer include packet pickup in the Grand Valley Oncology downstairs lobby on Friday 4/2/27, a registration fee of $35, late registration at a higher fee on race day, and a T shirt guarantee for registrations completed by 3/6/27. The start area is at the Adventure Academy parking lot with parking across the street and in a nearby gravel lot.
Recommended clothing and gear reflect the color powder element: white clothes to emphasize the colors, and optional eye and mouth protection such as sunglasses and bandanas. The powder generally washes out but clothing may stain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
