Frozen Goat is the third race in the Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series at Monte Sano State Park, 5105 Nolen Ave SE, Huntsville, AL. Distances offered:

  • 4 Mile
  • 15K
  • 30K

The event is capped at 400 entrants. Registration closes January 13. The race shirt is a tri-blend and is the same shirt used for the entire series. Age groups are 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.

Course and logistics

Trails include bluff views, creek crossings and waterfalls. Aid stations will provide water, Gatorade, Coke, GU, pretzels, M&M’s and granola bars. Specific aid station locations:

  • 4 Mile: water at 2.4 miles
  • 15K: aid at 5.3 and 7.4 miles
  • 30K: aid at 5.3, 7.4, 10.6, 11.6 and 14.0 miles

The event is a cupless race; runners must carry a hand-held bottle, pack or reusable cup. A RunningLane reusable cup is available for purchase at checkout. There are very loose cutoffs for the 4 Mile and 15K; the 30K has a hard cutoff of 5 hours 30 minutes. Packet pickup is available at the RunningLane Store the day before the race and the morning of the event. Average race-day temperatures are listed as a high of 52 F and a low of 31 F.
