About the race
The Frosty Squatchy is a trail running and hiking event held at the South Mountain Reservation in West Orange, New Jersey. The 5K loop starts and finishes at the Turtleback Rock Picnic Area off Walker Road. The event is presented as the 10th annual Frosty Fat Sass and raises funds for the South Mountain Conservancy; the event organizers report having raised over $20,000 for the Conservancy since 2018.
Offered event formats include:
- 5K loop on the Turtleback Rock course.
- 3-hour event where participants complete repeated 5K loops.
- 6-hour event where participants complete repeated 5K loops.
Additional registration options are available:
- Hardship Entry with no registration fee; registrants receive a code to complete registration and may request a full or partial scholarship. Community donations can be made to the Squatch Community Fund.
- Charity Bib for participants who agree to a fundraising goal of $300, with the fundraising target required to be met three days before the event.
Listed registration fees are $30 for the 5K, $45 for the 3-hour event, $55 for the 6-hour event, $25 for the Charity Bib, and $0 for Hardship Entry. Because this event is a fundraiser, refunds and deferrals are not offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
