Frostbite Races : Fletcher, North Carolina
The Frostbite Races present a set of winter running events hosted at the Lelia Patterson Center in Fletcher, North Carolina. The event offers three distances and includes an indoor Family Fun Day and Wellness Expo on race day with local vendors, wellness services, live music, snacks, merchandise, and kids activities. The expo is held in the gym at the Lelia Patterson Center.
Course details vary by distance. Both the 10K and 5K routes provide scenic views of Hutch Mountain and the surrounding area. The terrain for those courses is hilly with moderate inclines; the 10K has a net elevation gain of 464 feet and the 5K a net gain of 257 feet. The one mile fun run is flat and described as very easy for little runners. There are two water stations on the 10K course and one on the 5K course. Because some roads will remain open to traffic, children 12 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Event features include commemorative finisher medals for all participants, race shirts provided free with on-time registration until January 18 (10K long sleeve Dri-fit; 5K and 1-mile short sleeve Bella Canvas), awards for overall and age group winners, VISA gift card prizes for the overall top three male and female 10K finishers donated by Movement Bank, and professional chip timing with a well-marked course. Registration opens September 17, 2026. The race date is scheduled for February 21, 2027, with a backup date of February 28 pending approvals.
