Frogman 5K Trail Run
The Frogman 5K Trail Run is scheduled for February 20, 2027 in Jacksonville, North Carolina, at a property referred to as the "400-acres." The event was created in 2012 to honor a U.S. Navy SEAL who was killed during Operation Enduring Freedom when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter was shot down on August 6, 2011. Proceeds from the event will benefit SE Outdoors and the Jacksonville-Onslow Sports Commission (JOSC).
The in-person trail race covers a wooded course that is described as predominantly flat and was created specifically for this event. Awards include medals for top overall male and female, top overall male and female masters, and first place in each age division; all finishers receive a finisher medal. The event’s insurance does not allow dogs at running events unless they are service dogs. A two hour time limit applies to the in-person run.
There is also a virtual 5K option that can be completed anywhere between March 1 and March 22. A stroller child participant category is available for children five years and younger; the child must remain in the stroller at all times. T-shirts are offered as an additional purchase during registration with an order deadline of March 10. Packet pickup is scheduled for February 19 at Fleet Feet Jacksonville and an additional location to be determined; random bib prizes will be given to those who pick up on February 19. Event day parking is not available at the race site for runners; shuttle transport is required. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
