Frightening 5K - Evansville
The Frightening 5K takes place on October 25, 2026, at the Vanderburgh 4-H Center, 201 E. Boonville-New Harmony Rd., Darmstadt, IN. The course uses roads throughout the fairgrounds and includes several portions of crushed gravel. A race map is provided for the course layout.
Registration has tiered fees: $30 through August 15, $35 through October 12, and $40 through race day. There is a $5 deduction for a medal only option. A group discount is available for parties of four or more. All sales are final and shirts are not guaranteed after race day unless prior arrangements are made.
Race shirts are Tultex soft cotton in unisex sizes and are guaranteed to registrants through October 10; a limited number of extras may be available after that date. All finishers of the 5K receive a di-cast finisher medal.
Shirt and bib pick up and late registration are available at Ultimate Fit on October 23 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm, and on race day from 10:15 to 10:45 am at the 4-H Center. The 5K will start and finish behind the banquet hall; participants should use the main fairgrounds entrance and drive back to the banquet hall.
Awards include top three overall male and top three overall female, plus age group awards for the top three male and female finishers in 13 and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+ categories. The event will be timed by To the Finish Timing and will proceed rain or shine, with delays only if weather is threatening.
A costume competition will be held, with gift cards for best male, best female, and best group costumes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
