Event overview
Fright at the Falls 5km is a Hallowe'en-themed fun run and walk held in Grand Falls, New Brunswick. The event was established in 2025 and is organized by a volunteer-run community run club. The course is not certified and it is not chip timed; an official elapsed time digital race clock will be displayed at the finish. Photographer coverage at the finish line will be provided. Registered participants receive finisher medals. Prizes include random draws and awards for best Hallowe'en costumes. Athletics Canada recommends age 8 and up for this distance.
Course and logistics
The 5 km route starts and finishes at the Malabeam (Malobiannah) Tourist Information Centre and follows streets and the Gorge Trail beside the falls and gorge area. The description notes multiple viewpoints beside the gorge, stairs on the Gorge Trail, and approximately 220 m of elevation gain. Parts of the route pass the La Rochelle Centre, waterpark, a campground, a cemetery area, and offer views of the Saint John River. Free parking is available at the Grand Falls Museum building across Madawaska Road. Sidewalks will be used and traffic will be slowed or cautioned but not closed. On-site race-day registration is available; participant waivers must be signed at bib pick up. Entry fees are CAD $30 for pre-event online registration and CAD $45 for same-day registration, cash only. Strollers are not recommended because of gorge stairs.
