Friends of the Poor Walk 2026
The Friends of the Poor Walk is a community walking event held in Newton, Massachusetts. Organized by the Sacred Heart and Our Lady Help of Christians Collaborative Conference of Saint Vincent de Paul, this annual event is designed to raise awareness and funds for local residents needing assistance with food, clothing, and housing. The walk follows a circular route around Crystal Lake, starting and finishing at the Sacred Heart Parish parking lot.
The event features a single distance:
- 1.5 Miles
Participants can register individually or as a family. Registration includes one event t-shirt, with additional shirts available for purchase while supplies last. The event is open to walkers of all ages and is structured to be family friendly. Participants also have the option to act as fundraisers by collecting pledges from supporters to increase the total aid provided to the community.
In addition to the walk, the event hosts a silent auction on-site. Attendees can bid on various items including gift cards for local restaurants and businesses, gift baskets, and service offers. Bidding takes place before, during, and briefly after the walk. While winners do not need to be present when the auction closes, all bids must be placed in person at the venue.
