Friends of Kensico Cemetery 5K Run/Walk
The Friends of Kensico Cemetery 5K Run/Walk is a charity event on Sunday, October 25, 2026, held at Kensico Cemetery & Arboretum, 273 Lakeview Avenue, Valhalla, NY. The event benefits Friends of The Kensico Cemetery and the Westchester Fund for Historic & Cultural Preservation.
Participants can choose between the following distances:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 1.7 mile walk
The course uses cemetery roads and paths around Mineola Lake and passes notable landscape and architectural features. The runner route begins above Mineola Lake, continues across the road and up Uncas Avenue around Highland Drive, and returns by the same side of Mineola Lake. Walkers may follow the runner course or take the shorter route up Seneca Avenue to the Tower and back down Tecumseh to the Lake.
Standard registration is $50; children 12 and under are $15. Day-of registration fees are $55 for standard and $20 for children. Registration includes a two-part catered breakfast and a free event t-shirt. Breakfast items listed for the event include coffee, tea, juices, muffins, yogurt with fruit and granola, omelet bakes, scrambled eggs, French toast, autumn soups, and desserts. Raffle tickets are cash only. Registration fees are nonrefundable.
Water stations are provided along the routes and restrooms are available at the maintenance building. The event is timed by Chronotrack and Super Race Systems. Awards are presented to the top three men and top three women. The event is stroller and dog friendly with dogs required to be on leashes and will take place rain or shine.
