About the race
The Fredrick Michael Gibson 5K/10K & Half Marathon Walk/Run for Depression Awareness is a community fundraising event held at Rancho Simi Community Park in Simi Valley, CA. Proceeds benefit the Free Clinic of Simi Valley and specifically support its mental health programs. The event honors a community member who lost their life to depression and focuses on raising awareness and reducing stigma.
Multiple on-site and remote participation options are offered:

- Dogs walk/run
- Virtual Runner
All registered participants receive a T-shirt (guaranteed if registered by September 27 and as supplies last), a goodie bag, and a custom event medal. Kids receive a special prize for finishing the Fun Run, and registered dogs receive event swag. Virtual participants receive the same swag and may pick up goodie bags at the Free Clinic of Simi Valley between October 12 and October 31.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the event at 99.1 The Ranch radio station in Simi Town Center Mall near the food court. Cash awards are offered for top finishers in the Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K, and age-group awards are given for the distance events. Additional on-site services include a community breakfast provided by the Simi Valley YMCA Y’s Men, a Vitalant bloodmobile, and free flu shots from clinic staff and volunteers.
