Event Overview
The Frank Lloyd Wright Races are an annual running event organized by the Park District of Oak Park. The event is noted for being one of the longest-running racing events in Illinois. The races take participants through the tree-lined streets of Oak Park, passing by the remarkable architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. All participants receive a long-sleeved event shirt.
Race Distances
The event features several race options:
- 10K Run
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk
- Youth Mile for ages 6-14
- Lil Runners 50-Yard Dash for ages 3-5
Course & Location
All races start and finish near Oak Park & River Forest High School. The start line is just east of the high school on Ontario & Elmwood, and the finish is at the high school at Erie & Scoville. The course showcases the architectural landmarks of Frank Lloyd Wright. Street closures and restrictions are in effect on the morning of the event.
Participant Information
The 5K and 10K runs use the B-Tag timing system. The 5K Walk is not timed. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded to top finishers in the Youth Mile, 5K, and 10K across multiple age categories. Strollers are permitted at the back of the pack for runners in the 5K and 10K events, and are also allowed in the 5K Walk. Dogs are not allowed unless they are service animals.
Public transportation is recommended, as the start/finish area is near the CTA Green Line Ridgeland stop and a short walk from the Metra Oak Park stop. On-street parking is limited.

All proceeds from the race go toward the Park District of Oak Park's financial assistance fund, which helps residents access recreational opportunities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
