Franciscan Rhythms Trail Run
The Franciscan Rhythms Trail Run is an annual event held at the Lowell campus of the Franciscan Life Process Center. The event takes place on a scenic, unpaved path that winds through several distinct natural environments, including deciduous woodlands, pine forests, and a restored prairie featuring native plants. Participants may observe local wildlife such as birds, insects, and occasionally beavers along the route.
The trail route features multiple live music stations where musicians perform Irish, rock, and folk music to provide entertainment for those on the course. Following the completion of the events, water and snacks are provided, which include homemade cinnamon rolls prepared by the Sisters.
Available event distances include:
- 5K trail run
- 5K trail walk
- Kids Fun Run
The unpaved terrain consists of wooded areas and fields. Because of the nature of the trail, strollers and dogs are not permitted on the course. Proceeds from the event are directed toward a music therapy scholarship fund and the continued land restoration and stewardship of the Lowell campus.
In addition to the physical event, a virtual option is available for those who wish to complete the route independently. Participants also have the option to preorder homemade bread, such as whole wheat or oatmeal, for pickup at the campus. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
