Foy's to Blacktail Trail Marathon : Kalispell, MT

The event is the eighth running of a point-to-point mountain marathon that uses new sections of the Foy's to Blacktail Trail system. Registration is limited to a maximum of 100 participants. The race assembles at Herron Park for pre-race meeting and bib assignment, then participants are bussed to the start on the Lakeside to Blacktail Trail.

An interactive course map is available through OnX Backcountry. The event includes aid stations, and there is a strict noon cut off to reach the Emmons Saddle aid station; runners need an average pace of greater than 3 mph to meet this cut off. All entrants are eligible for a random giveaway of event swag, including a prize described as a pair of running shoes.

Organizers state that race proceeds support trail construction and maintenance across the 40+ mile FTBT system, including new trails on Emmons Ridge south to Blacktail Mountain. The marathon is presented alongside FTBT-Herron half, 10k, and 5k trail events and is part of the broader Flathead Race Series for 2026, which plans to compile series finishers and a leader board.

Because the course passes through wildlife habitat, all racers must carry bear spray due to the risk of encounters with bears and mountain lions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
