Whitefish Turkey Trot
The 17th Annual Whitefish Turkey Trot is a downtown Whitefish running and walking event that uses a 3.1 mile course starting and ending outside the O'Shaughnessy Cultural Arts Center. The event is organized as two waves, one for runners and one for walkers.
Distances
- 3.1 Miles (5K Run)
- 3.1 Miles (5K Walk)
Registration fees are $15.00 per event. Proceeds support the North Valley Food Bank, and participants are encouraged to bring food donations; the food bank has requested items such as turkeys, hams, canned goods, baking supplies, and cooking oils.
Dogs are not allowed at the event except for ADA service animals. Service animals must be on a non-retractable leash six feet or shorter and should be positioned toward the back of the start area. Strollers are allowed and should also line up toward the back of the start area.
Weather in late November can include snow and ice. Organizers note a high likelihood of slippery conditions on the course and recommend traction devices for shoes. There are no aid stations on the course; water and light refreshments will be available at the start and finish areas. Parking is free in downtown Whitefish and a parking garage is available at 402 E Second St. There are no cash prizes; the top three men and top three women receive a treat.
