48th Annual Fowl Fun Run
The Fowl Fun Run returns for its 48th edition in Mount Vernon, Washington. Organized by the Skagit Runners, the event takes place at the Mount Vernon Christian School and explores the surrounding Skagit Valley.
Participants can choose between two main distances:
- 5K run/walk
- 10K run
Both routes are set on flat, low-traffic farm roads. In addition to the main distances, a free half-mile run is available for children aged 8 years and under.
The event features a "Beat the Turkey" challenge during the 10K race. A mascot known as Tom Turkey starts the run five minutes after the initial signal; participants who finish the course before he does receive a special award at the finish line.
All participants are provided with a finisher's medal, and special awards are designated for the top three male and female finishers. Post-race refreshments are served at the venue, including traditional pumpkin pie. Pre-registered participants can pick up their bib numbers the day before the event at the Skagit Running Company or on the morning of the run at the school.
