Lake Area Runners 4 for the Fourth
The Lake Area Runners 4 for the Fourth is a running and walking event held in Lake Charles. Participants compete on a 4 mile course that follows an out-and-back route along the scenic Lakeshore Drive. The terrain is flat, and the event is open to individuals of various experience levels.
The race starts on Gill Street, situated between Lakeshore Drive and Pithon Street. Parking is available at the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury parking lot and the Lake Charles Event Center. This event is noted for its high temperatures, and participants are advised to hydrate before taking part.
This race serves as the final installment of the Triple Crown Series. Runners who successfully complete this race, along with the Leprechaun 3 Miler and the Contraband 5 Miler, are eligible for a special prize. Registered participants, excluding those in specific age categories, receive a short-sleeved performance shirt, provided they register by the middle of June.
Post-race activities include food, beverages, and music. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the first, second, and third-place finishers in 10-year age groups ranging from 0-14 to 70+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
