Santa's Hot Chocolate Run
Santa's Hot Chocolate Run is a community 5K held in downtown Lake Charles on December 5, 2026. The professionally measured 3.1-mile course begins at the Central School Arts & Humanities Center at the corner of Pujo St. and Kirkman St., follows Lakeshore Drive, Watkins St., 7th St. (past St. Louis High School), and Bank St., and finishes at Pujo St. and Reid St.
The event includes water and festive photo stations at four points along the route and serves hot chocolate after the finish. Participants are encouraged to wear holiday gear such as ugly sweaters, Santa hats, or reindeer antlers.
Teams may register and are eligible for recognition in categories that include most participants, fastest time, best Candy Land themed outfits, and most spirit. A Kids Zone offers a variety of activities for children. A free scavenger hunt takes place around the four corners of the Central School; walking the oak tree lined space four times equals one mile.
Registration opens August 28, 2026 and closes November 14, 2026. The registration fee is $30. The event supports the Literacy Council of Southwest Louisiana. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
