Swamp Stomp Half Marathon and 1 Mile Fun Run
The Swamp Stomp event is a running competition hosted by the Lake Area Runners in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The race starts and finishes at Graywood Park and follows a course through the streets of the Graywood Plantation subdivision. The route is described as flat and fast, winding through suburban neighborhoods south of Lake Charles. Logistics on the course include multiple water stations and portable toilets.
Participants can choose between two race distances:
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon)
- 1 Mile (Fun Run)
The 13.1 mile race has a minimum age requirement of 14 years. Runners who complete this distance within a four-hour time limit receive a finisher's medal and a jacket. Jackets are sized based on registration date, with a guarantee for those registered before a late November deadline. The 1 mile event is an out and back course that uses the same start and finish line as the half marathon. All participants in the shorter distance receive a finisher's medal.
An after party is held for participants and their families, featuring music, games, and refreshments. Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners in both races, with additional age group awards provided for the half marathon. Registration fees include a short-sleeved performance shirt for participants. Due to limited parking at the Graywood Golf Club and a lack of parking at the racquet club, carpooling is encouraged.
