Event Overview
The Swamp Stomp, organized by Lake Area Runners, takes place in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The event features two distinct distances:
- 1/2 Marathon
- 1 Mile Fun Run
The race starts and finishes at Graywood Park. The course for the 1/2 Marathon is flat and fast, winding through the neighborhoods of the Graywood Plantation community. Participants in the 1 Mile Fun Run follow an out and back course that utilizes the same start and finish line as the longer distance.
Participant Information
The minimum age to participate in the 1/2 Marathon is 14 years. The course is equipped with multiple water stops and portable toilets for runner convenience. Registered participants receive short-sleeved performance shirts if they register by the specified deadline in November. Half marathon participants who complete the course within the four-hour time limit are awarded a finisher's medal and a jacket. All participants in the 1 Mile Fun Run receive a finisher's medal.
Post-Race Activities and Amenities
An after-party follows the event, featuring food, refreshments, music, and games for runners and their families. Parking is limited and available at the Graywood Golf Club; attendees are encouraged to carpool and are instructed not to park on the grass or at the nearby racquet club. Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in several age categories for the half marathon.
