Death By a Mile - Lake Charles
Death By a Mile is an elimination endurance event on February 13, 2027, at Sam Houston Park in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The loop course starts and ends at the large pavilion near the boardwalk and will be marked with flags. The park remains open to the public during the event.
The format requires participants to run repeated one mile loops. The allowed time to complete each loop shortens as the event progresses, moving through intervals of 30, 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, and finally 6 minutes. Runners who do not finish a loop within the allowed interval are eliminated. Prizes are awarded to the final male and final female remaining.
Registration is limited to the first 100 entrants. Registration opens February 13, 2026, and closes February 11, 2027. The registration fee is $75. Registered runners receive an event shirt when registered by January 1 to guarantee sizing.
Packet pick up is scheduled the night before at Open Gym Strength, 637 LeJuanta St, Lake Charles, and there is a short packet pick up option at the pavilion on race day. The event provides some food and drinks but recommends that participants bring personal nutrition and hydration, a headlamp or flashlight, warm clothing, and basic comfort items such as chairs, towels, or blankets.
