Event overview
The Founders Half Marathon takes place on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in Potomac, MD (Carderock Recreation Area / North Parking for Carderock Cliffs). It is race number 2 of the DCRR Snowball Series. The event distance is 13.1 miles and the course is USATF certified; the course will be re-certified before race day.
Course, services and logistics
The course is an out-and-back route along the C&O Canal Towpath. There are two water stops located at Lock 10 and Lock 6, which correspond to approximately miles 3, 5, 8, and 10; runners pass each water stop twice. Timing and results are compiled in real time and a link for live results will be provided in final instructions.
Registration is online only, with advance registration available through the evening before the race (12/13); late and day-of walk-up registrations are not accepted. Fees are $0 for club members and $10 for non-members. Post-race refreshments include bagels, spreads, hot chocolate, coffee, tea, Gatorade, bananas, and similar items. There are no event t-shirts or medals. Multiple volunteer roles are listed, including aid stations, turnaround marshal, setup and bib distribution, food service, and course cleanup.
