Event overview
The Fort2Fort Five Mile Challenge is a road running and walking event held on May 9, 2026, on Mackinac Island, Michigan. Now in its ninth year, the event raises funds to support Mackinac Historic State Parks. The course starts inside Fort Mackinac, follows paved island trails past historic landmarks to Fort Holmes - the island's highest point - and returns on paved trails to finish at Fort Mackinac. All participants receive free entry to Fort Mackinac and other Mackinac Island attractions for the day, plus a shirt and a burnt wood finisher medal.

Entry for each listed event is $45. The virtual option includes mailed bib, shirt, medal, park pass, and additional swag, and it qualifies for the Mackinac Island Trio series. Packet pick-up is held in the Pavilion outside Fort Mackinac. The race is part of a multi-race bundle that includes the Mackinac Island Eight Mile and the Great Turtle Half Marathon events.
