Fort2Fort Five Mile Challenge
The Fort2Fort Five Mile Challenge is a five mile running and walking event on Mackinac Island, Michigan, centered on Fort Mackinac and Fort Holmes. The course uses paved trails and passes historic island landmarks, reaching Fort Holmes at the highest point of the island before returning to Fort Mackinac.
The event offers three participation options: an in-person Five Mile Run, a Five Mile Walk that requires walking at all times, and a Virtual 5 Mile Race that can be completed at participants' convenience. Virtual participants receive a race packet containing a bib, shirt, swag, medal and a Fort Mackinac park pass; packets for virtual entries are mailed within a week of the race. In-person participants receive free entry to Fort Mackinac and other Mackinac Island attractions for the day, plus a shirt and a burnt wood finisher medal.
Registration opens on 12/14/2025 and closes on 2/28/2026. The registration fee is $45.00 for each entry type. The Fort2Fort Five Mile is part of the Mackinac Island Trio Series; completing specified series events earns a separate Mackinac Island Trio Series medal that is awarded after the Great Turtle Half Marathon.
Location: Fort Mackinac, 7127 Huron Road, Mackinac Island, MI 49757, United States. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
