Fort Macon Mosquito 5K & 10K
The Fort Macon Mosquito Run is hosted by the Friends of Fort Macon and takes place May 9, 2026 in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina at 2303 E Fort Macon Rd.
Distances:
- 5K - one lap of the Elliot Coues Trail (3.2 miles).
- 10K - two laps of the Elliot Coues Trail.
The course includes a fully stocked aid station and will offer snacks and drinks. This is a cup-free event; runners must bring their own hydration devices. Participants with special nutritional needs are advised to bring their own food. Personal aid stations such as a cooler, tent, chair or canopy are permitted but items are left at the owner’s risk and are not monitored by park or race staff. Alcohol is not permitted in the park. The Fort Macon hill side will serve as the event staging area.
Funds raised will benefit Fort Macon State Park for preservation of a baby whale skeleton, upkeep of park trails, and other park enhancements.
Registration closes Thu, May 7 at 11:59PM ET. Packet pickup is at the Fort Macon Visitor Center on May 7 and May 8 from 9am to 5pm and the morning of the event beginning at 8am. Registration by April 5, 2026 guarantees a race shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
