About the race
The Kingston Road Runners Association stages an annual cross country event on Fort Henry Hill. The course follows a well-groomed trail that overlooks Fort Henry, the Royal Military College and the city. The event includes a children’s race held before the main race and is part of the Kingston Kids Race Series.
Distances and formats
- 5KXC : cross country race on a 2.5 km loop with small rolling hills mostly covered in grass
- Kids 1KXC : 1 km race for children 12 years and younger
The course is a closed course used by clubs and associations and was the same loop used for a national cross country course in 2018. There will not be a water station on the course; water bottles and pre-packaged snacks will be handed out at the finish area.
Registration details list a cost of $40 for the 5KXC with a $5 discount for KRRA members who use a code, and $10 for the 1KXC. Registration for the 2026 event has not yet opened and typically opens in late July.
Awards and team rules are published for both individual and team competition. Individual medals are awarded to top overall finishers and by age categories, with specific medals and ribbons for the Kids 1KXC. Team entries require two male and two female runners and are scored by placing, with ties broken by the fourth runner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
