The Forest Frolic Trail Race & Hike takes place at Findley State Park in Wellington, Ohio. This event utilizes the park's trail system to take participants through forested areas and around Findley Lake during the month of July. The proceeds from the event serve as a fundraiser for The Friends of Findley State Park, supporting facility improvements, natural habitat preservation, and educational programs regarding natural resources.
The course features various terrain elements, including curves, stream crossings via bridges, and sections with short, steep inclines and declines. The start and finish lines are located near the park's beach area parking lot.
Distance Options
Participants can choose from several distance and activity formats:
- 10K Trail Run: A competitive running race on the park trails.
- 5K Trail Run: A mid-distance trail running option.
- 5K Trail Hike: A walking-based distance on the same trail course.
- 1 Mile Fun Run: A shorter distance option available for participants.
Participant Information
Registered participants in the 5K and 10K events receive a t-shirt, a swag bag, and a hand-crafted medal created by a local artist. While the 1 Mile Fun Run includes participation, it does not include a t-shirt. Refreshments are provided for all participants at the finish line.
