For the Health of It 5K
The event is a scenic 5k held at Burke Lake Park, using Shelter C as the venue area. The course runs on park trails, is mostly paved with a short gravel section, and has limited elevation gains. Walkers and strollers are welcome.
Points from the event count toward the Year-Long 5k and Back of the Pack series, and toward the Fall Series. The Back of the Pack listing for this event is 11:00; this listing is a series classification for participants who average slower paces.
Registered participants receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (DriFit) event shirt, and chip timing. T-shirts are guaranteed for entries made before September 30; additional shirts after that date are available on a first-come first-served basis. The 5k registration fee is $30 until September 30 and $35 thereafter, with a race morning price increase of $5.
Packet pickup is available at the event, and race day registration is offered; race day registrants should plan to arrive about one hour before the event for check-in and registration. One water station is located on course at approximately mile 1.55, with Gatorade available at some stations. Restrooms are located by the parking lot at Shelter A.
The event benefits the Center for Health and Human Rights. Live results are posted during the race and final results with series points are posted the Monday after the event. Awards include the top three men and women overall and first and second place in standard age groups; overall top three finishers are not eligible for age group awards.
