Dead Man's Run 5K
Dead Man's Run is a fall 5K fundraiser held at Historic Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D.C. The race is scheduled for October 10, 2026, and the course begins inside the cemetery before continuing onto the Anacostia Trail. The event includes music and an evening atmosphere, and participants are encouraged to wear costumes.
Prizes are awarded for best individual costume and best team costume. Additional awards recognize top overall finishers, age-group winners, and the best team time. Teams may register and compete under a team name.
Registration opens July 23 and a registration window related to early bird pricing closes August 1. A registration fee of $30 is listed. Participants who register by September 20 will receive a complimentary race shirt; registrants after September 20 will receive a shirt while supplies last.
All proceeds benefit Historic Congressional Cemetery, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preservation and interpretation of the site. The cemetery was founded in 1807, covers 35 acres, and contains more than 70,000 interments. It serves as both a burial ground and a public space maintained through programs, preservation work, and community support. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
