Foot Traffic Flat
Foot Traffic Flat is a Fourth of July road race held on Sauvie Island, Oregon, starting and finishing at the Pumpkin Patch. The event offers multiple in-person distances and a virtual option with commemorative swag.
Distances available:
- Full Marathon: certified and Boston qualifying, out and back plus half loop, 14 water stations.
- Half Marathon: certified, one clockwise loop, very flat, 7 water stations.
- Quarter Marathon: point to point, 3 water stations, shuttle transport back to main finish area.
- 5K: pancake flat out and back through farmland and barns.
- Virtual: run between July 4 and July 11 with virtual results and mailed items.
- Kids 1K: farm course with medal included.
Certified full and half courses use chip timing. Aid stations on the marathon, half and quarter provide restrooms, hand washing, water, electrolyte drink (Hammer Fizz) and energy gels. The marathon enforces a 5.5 hour time limit to meet local requirements.
Event logistics reflect Sauvie Island access constraints. A limited shuttle service operates from NW Portland near the Silver Cloud Inn and spectators may use it. Parking is managed across multiple lots with a single lane of island access, so carpooling is encouraged.
Race amenities include technical shirts, medals, custom bibs with participant names for entries before June 21, snacks, misting tents and ice cream from Alden’s Organics including vegan options. There are no refunds or deferrals, but transfers to another participant or to the virtual race are permitted. The event has raised over $700,000 for the Sauvie Island community and Volunteer Fire Department. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
