ORRC Turkey Trot at the Zoo
The Turkey Trot at the Zoo is an untimed, family-oriented event held at the Oregon Zoo in Portland on November 26, 2026. The primary course is a 5K route that departs the zoo, follows Kingston Drive toward the International Rose Garden, and finishes inside the zoo at the Elephant Plaza. The course is described as hilly.
Distances and kids events:
- 5 km course
- Tot Trot (ages 0-4)
- Gobble Gallop (ages 5-10)
Entry includes a beanie hat and a chocolate turkey for entrants in the 5K and kids events; children in the Tot Trot and Gobble Gallop also receive a commemorative ribbon and additional goodies. Finish-line refreshments include fruit, water, donuts, and a bagel bar. A pumpkin pie raffle will randomly award 150 large pies to registrants.
Registration is limited to 2,200 participants for the main event; there is no limit for the kids races and no day-of-race registration. Approximately $25,000 of registration fees benefit the Oregon Zoo. Long-sleeved event T-shirts are available to purchase with a registration deadline of November 1. There are no aid stations on course and zoo concession stands will be closed, so no onsite food or drink purchases will be available. Parking is limited; lots may fill to capacity and parking rates apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
