Overview
The Folsom Firecracker is a running event held on July 4 in Folsom, California. The start and finish location is on the Lake Natoma bike trails at 145 Parkshore Drive. Participants can register for several timed race distances: a 10K, a 5K, and a 2 Mile run. There is also a non-competitive Kids Fun Run, which is a quarter-mile distance for children 10 and under.
Course and Awards
The timed courses travel primarily along the paved paths of the Lake Natoma bike trails, overlooking the American River. Overall and age group awards are presented for the top three finishers per gender in each timed race. For the 5K and 10K distances, there are also special division awards for adaptive athletes, Folsom residents, first responders, active military personnel and veterans, cancer survivors, and stroller entrants.
Registration and Details
Registration is handled online, with fees varying by date and distance. A youth discount for ages 1-17 and a discount for active US military or veterans are available. Entry for the timed races includes a race t-shirt, chip timing, and a finisher's medal. The Kids Fun Run entry includes a bib and finisher medal, with a t-shirt available as an add-on.
Packet pickup is available the day before the race at Fleet Feet Folsom and on race day near the start/finish line. Free parking is available in the surrounding corporate parks on Parkshore Drive.
