Florida Roots Trail Race at Fort Clinch, January 23, 2027
Organized by Zero Feet Above, this event offers three trail distances at Fort Clinch State Park on Amelia Island, Florida. All distances follow the same 10K loop that begins and ends at the Fort Clinch visitor center.
- 10K : 1 loop (6.2 miles)
- 30K : 3 loops (18.6 miles)
- 50K : 5 loops (31 miles)
The course is primarily mixed-use singletrack through maritime hammock with a canopy of trees. The route follows the natural undulation of coastal terrain and includes a large number of short sometimes steep climbs. Surface types vary from sand to well-packed dirt, and roots are plentiful along the trail. The loop passes near historic fort walls and coastal shoreline.
Aid and race services are provided: two stations on the 10K loop with water electrolyte drink and food, a start and finish area with drop bags, a second station at about 2.5 miles, and bathroom facilities at both stations. Entry includes chip timing by MCM, a race shirt, a finisher award, and post-race food and drinks. All finishers receive an award and top finishers earn Florida State Park passes in open and masters categories.
Accommodations include group tent camping at Fort Clinch on the nights before the race with restrooms showers and potable water, and hotels within a short drive. No pacers are allowed. Registration closes January 22. One hundred percent of profits are donated to Florida State Parks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
