Florida Roots Trail Race at Fort Clinch
The event takes place on January 23, 2027, at Fort Clinch State Park on Amelia Island, Florida. It offers trail distances on a repeated 10K loop that begins and ends at the Fort Clinch visitor center.
- 10K : 1 loop, 6.2 miles
- 30K : 3 loops, 18.6 miles
- 50K : 5 loops, 31 miles
The course runs mostly on mixed-use singletrack through maritime hammock. Runners follow canopied trails that pass historic fort walls and sections of coastal shore. Surfaces vary from sand to well-packed dirt and include many short, sometimes steep climbs. Roots are frequently present on the trails.
Aid stations and support are placed on the 10K loop, including two stations, a start/finish area with drop bags, and a second station near 2.5 miles. Stations provide water, electrolyte drink, food, and bathroom facilities. All finishers receive an award, and top finishers in each category receive Florida State Park passes; there are top awards for masters age 40 and over.
Event entries include chip timing by MCM Timing, a race shirt, a finisher award, and post-race food and drinks. Group tent camping is available at Fort Clinch on the nights before the race, with restrooms, showers, and potable water; hotels on Amelia Island are within a short drive. No pacers are allowed on course. One hundred percent of event profits are donated to Florida State Parks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
