Florence Freedom 5K
The Florence Freedom 5K is an annual running event held in downtown Florence, South Carolina. The race utilizes the Run Like a Nut course, which is characterized by a flat and fast terrain. Participants begin and end the event at 120 E. Elm Street. This competition serves as a double points race within the Pee Dee Grand Prix series.
The event offers two distinct distances:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Walk/Run
Registered participants receive several amenities, including a custom finisher medal and access to post-race concessions. Runners are also provided with cooled towels upon completion. Participants who complete their registration before early June are eligible to receive a red shirt or a red tank top.
The event organizers allow the use of strollers and the presence of pets during the race. While not recommended, participants are permitted to listen to music while running. There are no parking restrictions at the venue and no age restrictions for entry.
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three in the masters and age-specific categories. Age groups for the 5K range from 10 and under to 70 and over. A portion of the proceeds from the event is donated to the McLeod Foundation.
