Event overview
The Flat Caps 10K takes place in Sowerby Bridge, Halifax, on 12 April 2026. The race is an annual, measured and chip timed road event covering 10 kilometres on a hilly, undulating course. The event is organised by a local running club and is in its sixth year. All profits go to Overgate Hospice; over £2,700 was raised for the charity in 2025. There is a £50 cash prize for breaking the course records. Current course records are 00:37:11 (male, 2023) and 00:44:25 (female, 2025). The field is limited to 250 entries, with remaining places shown in the event information; the course is not suitable for wheelchairs.
Course, facilities and entry
The course is a single lap road route with full marshals. On-course and event facilities include water stations, distance markers, toilets, changing facilities and showers. There is no baggage store. Race headquarters is at Sowerby Bridge Cricket Club, Walton Street, HX6 1AN, where refreshments such as tea, coffee, buns and hot and vegetarian butties are available.
Entry fees include race fees, card charges and administration. Listed prices are £15 for affiliated runners and £17 for unaffiliated runners. If the event does not sell out, entry on the day is available for an additional £2. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
