Flaming Foliage Relay
The Flaming Foliage Relay is a long distance, overnight team race through the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The course spans 165 miles and begins in Idaho Springs, concluding in Buena Vista on the banks of the Arkansas River. Participants navigate a route that includes road sections and 31 miles of single track trails.
The course is divided into 30 legs and crosses three rugged mountain passes: Guanella Pass, Georgia Pass, and Fremont Pass. The event takes place during the autumn season, featuring high country scenery and mountain landscapes.
Teams can participate in several categories based on the number of runners:
- 165 miles: 10 person team (6-10 runners)
- 165 miles: Ultra Team (4-5 runners)
- 165 miles: Super Ultra (1-3 runners)
Registration is managed by a team captain who sets up the team name and handles the initial payment. Participants have two options regarding event support. Teams may either provide volunteers to staff runner exchanges or pay a tax-deductible donation to a non-profit organization to support the provision of event staff. The number of required volunteers or the donation amount depends on the team size and category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
