Devil on the Divide is a trail running event in Empire, Colorado offering two point to point distances. Courses are entirely on dirt, with the majority single track trail. The event includes:
- 50K with over 6,500 feet of climbing and a top altitude over 13,000 feet
- 22K with about 3,400 feet of elevation gain
Cut off times are enforced for both distances. The 50K and 22K follow remote mountain terrain with high altitude sections; some segments reach above 13,000 feet. The course profile and remoteness mean participants should expect sustained climbs and technical trail surface.
Prior experience is required for safety and logistics. Specifically, prior ultra running experience is required for 50K entrants, and trail running experience at high altitude is highly recommended for 22K entrants. For 50K registrants, previous race results may be checked and proof of racing history may be requested. Participants who register for the 50K and drop at Herman Gulch, the 22K finish, will not receive finish times for the 50K.
Entries are non refundable and non transferable, with limited exceptions for active duty military deployments, pregnancy after registration, and new child additions with appropriate notice. The organizer may postpone, delay, shorten, or cancel the event for safety reasons such as severe weather or forest fires; there are no refunds if the event is modified or cancelled.
