Devil on the Divide
Devil on the Divide is a point-to-point trail race in Empire, Colorado on September 12, 2026. The event offers two distances:
- 50K - reaches top altitude over 13,000 ft; over 6,500 ft climbing
- 22K - 3,400 ft elevation gain, high-altitude trail recommended
Both courses are 100% dirt and the majority of each course is single-track trail. The route is described as remote and difficult, and cut-off times are enforced for both distances. Participants who register for the 50K but drop at Herman Gulch (the 22K finish) will not receive 50K finish times.
Due to the course characteristics and altitude, prior ultra running experience is required for 50K entrants and trail running experience at high altitude is highly recommended for 22K entrants. Previous race results will be checked for 50K applicants; participants without listed results should be prepared to show racing history.
Race entries are non-refundable and non-transferable, with exceptions for active duty military deployments, pregnancies that occur after registration, and new child additions by birth or adoption with appropriate notice. The race director may postpone, delay, shorten or cancel the event for safety reasons such as severe weather or forest fires; there are no refunds in the event of modification or cancellation.
