Event overview
The 7th Annual Flag Run 5k takes place on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The event includes the following distances:
- 5k
- 1 Mile Walk
Each participant receives a t-shirt and a finisher medal. The event includes food, drinks, music, aid stations, and race timing. The schedule includes setup, a warm-up, a national anthem and prayer, the walk and run, and post-race awards and a celebration on the plaza.
Location and logistics
The race is based at Boerne Main Plaza, 100 N. Main Street, Boerne, TX 78006. Parking is limited near the plaza. There are parking lots within walking distance at the Courthouse, BISD Office, and Visitors Center. Participants are asked not to park at Dienger, Bank of America, Salty & Sweat, or Black Rifle Coffee.
Charity, history and awards
The event began as a yearly July 4th run where participants carried American flags and was later organized as a 5k. Proceeds support local causes; since 2019, $25,500 has been donated to the VFW and the Boerne Fire Department. Last year a $2,500 scholarship was awarded to a high school senior. Proceeds for this year will go to the Boerne Fire Department to help purchase a Wildland Paramedic Unit - UTV and to fund another scholarship. Awards are given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall male and female finishers and for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for runners carrying a full standard size American flag.
