Flag Run 5k
The Flag Run 5k is a July 4th running event held in Boerne, Texas at Main Plaza, 132 S Main Street, 78006. The event includes both a 5k run and a 1 Mile Walk.

Participants who carry a full standard size American flag are eligible for awards for first, second, and third place among flag carriers. Awards are also given for first, second, and third overall male and female finishers. Each participant receives a t-shirt and a finisher medal. The event provides food, drinks, music, aid stations, and race timing. A celebration takes place on the plaza after the race.
The event began when local runners who carried American flags on July 4th organized the activity into an official race. Since 2019 the organizers report donations totaling $25,500 to the VFW and the Boerne Fire Department, and a $2,500 scholarship was awarded to a high school senior for tuition at a fire school. Proceeds from the upcoming edition will go to the Boerne Fire Department to help fund department programs and scholarship support for those pursuing a career in the fire service.
