7th Annual Flag Run 5k : Boerne, TX (July 4, 2026)
The Flag Run 5k is a community running event held on July 4, 2026 at Boerne Main Plaza, 100 N. Main Street, Boerne, TX 78006. The event includes a 5k run and a 1 Mile Walk. Participants are encouraged to run carrying a full standard size American flag; awards are given to the top three flag carriers and to overall finishers.
Each participant receives a t-shirt and a finisher medal. On-course support includes aid stations and electronic timing. Food, drinks, and music are provided as part of the event. A post-race celebration takes place on the plaza.
The event began from informal July 4 runs through town and has grown with local sponsors and community support. Since 2019 the event has donated $25,500 to the VFW and the Boerne Fire Department, and it previously funded a $2,500 scholarship for a high school senior. Proceeds from this edition will benefit the Boerne Fire Department, including support toward a Wildland Paramedic Unit (UTV) and a future scholarship.
