Fishers YMCA Wishbone 5K
The Wishbone 5K is an annual Thanksgiving community run and walk organized by the Fishers YMCA. The event offers a 3.1 miles course where participants may run or walk. Strollers and leashed dogs are permitted on the route; for safety, those with strollers or dogs are asked to start near the back of the corrals and strollers will be escorted to the end of the lineup area.
Participants receive a long sleeve shirt and a medal. To receive a shirt at packet pickup, participants must register by early November; those who register later may pick up shirts at the Fishers YMCA beginning December 15. Packet pickup is available at the Fishers YMCA on the days leading up to the event and on the morning of the event.
A virtual option is offered that allows participants to complete the 3.1 miles on a course of their choosing between November 26 and December 25. If the event is moved to a fully virtual format, in person participants will automatically become virtual participants and refunds will not be issued.
The Wishbone 5K supports the Fishers YMCA Annual Campaign, which subsidizes memberships, programs, summer camp, and before and after school care. Since the race began in 2011, nearly $650,000 has been raised and more than 15,000 participants have joined the event. More than one in four members and one in five program participants receive financial assistance, and the YMCA reports assisting over 7,000 local families annually.
