First Responders Relay : California Police Athletic Federation
The First Responders Relay is a team road relay for publicly employed and retired first responder personnel, hosted by the California Police Athletic Federation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The relay is a team event held in Ventura, California, with the start and finish at the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach and an award ceremony in the hotel's Top of the Harbor Ballroom on the same Sunday afternoon as the race.

- Stages range 4.2 miles to 6 miles
Teams consist of six runners; a runner who begins a stage must finish that stage. Alternates may replace a no show before the race without penalty, but there is no provision for substituting a runner who becomes unable to finish a stage; such an occurrence makes the team unofficial. Each team must supply a volunteer for a course assignment; failure to provide the volunteer results in disqualification. The event includes multiple competition categories such as Open, Mixed, Women, Senior, size-limited agency divisions, station/division, and support services, with separate mixed and support mixed categories where applicable.
Registration opens in June and the field is limited to the first paid entries. Teams receive participant shirts and a souvenir; awards include category placings and a perpetual trophy for the overall fastest team. Course routing follows the Ventura beachfront, Pacific Coast Highway and bike trail to Rincon Point and back. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
