First Day Cane Bay 5K
Held on January 1, 2027 in Cane Bay Plantation, Summerville, SC, the First Day 5k is offered as both an in-person 5K Run/Walk and a virtual 5K. Registration opens August 27, 2026 and closes September 3, 2026; the registration fee is $35.00.
The course uses the community paved trail system and is described as flat. The in-person route begins in the Cane Bay Elementary School parking lot, proceeds onto Nexton Parkway with Sheriff's Deputies stationed for safety, continues onto paved multi-use trails that pass through two tunnels, and returns to finish at the elementary school.
Finish-line amenities include a choice of a free coffee or hot cocoa and a treat. Awards are given to male and female finishers 1st through 3rd overall and in these age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
Packet pick-up is scheduled for December 30 at Fleet Feet Carnes Crossroads from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with additional packet pick-up on race day at the race site from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
