First Day 5k
The First Day 5k takes place on January 1, 2027, in Cane Bay Plantation, Summerville, South Carolina, at 1247 Cane Bay Blvd. The event offers two 5K options: an in-person Run/Walk on the community paved trail system and a virtual 5K.
The in-person course begins and ends at the Cane Bay Elementary School parking lot, runs onto Nexton Pkwy with Sheriff's Deputies stationed for safety, and follows paved multi‑use trails that loop through two tunnels. The course is flat and on pavement, and the route accommodates walkers and strollers. Pets are not allowed.
Participants may select a free coffee or hot cocoa and a treat at the finish. Awards will be given to males and females 1st through 3rd overall and in these age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus.
Registration for the listed events opens on September 5, 2026 and closes on September 6, 2026. The registration fee for each listed event is $35.00. Packet pick-up is scheduled December 30 at Fleet Feet Carnes Crossroads from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and at the race site on January 1 from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM.
