First Chance 10k 2026
The event is a 10 km road race held on 15 February 2026 around Exeter Riverside Valley Park. Race headquarters are at Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre (Haven Road, EX2 8DP), located between the canal and the river. Facilities at Race HQ include toilets, changing rooms, and showers; public toilets are also available along the Quay.
The course is described as flat and fast and is traffic free. Distances are marked in kilometres by paint lines and distance boards. Runners should be aware of pedestrians, cyclists, and dogs on the route. The course is narrow in places; runners are asked to line up according to realistic ability and to run on the left to allow overtaking on the right. A two hour cut off applies. Course measurement was provided by AUKCM.
Race numbers include timing chips on the back and must be worn on the front of the running top. A bag label will be available on the bottom of the race number for secure storage. In-ear headphones are not permitted; bone conductor devices are allowed. Marshals will enforce this rule and noncompliance may lead to disqualification.
Entrants must be at least 15 years old on the day of the race. Entry includes a race medal for all finishers. Prizes include cash and mementos for the top three male and female finishers, veteran category mementos, and team prizes for the first four female and first four male club runners.
