Otter Rail and River Run : Tipton St John, 11 July 2026
The Otter Rail and River Run is an off-road running event based at Tipton St John Playing Field on 11 July 2026. It offers a longer trail race and a shorter fun run, both routed on public footpaths and rights of way through the Otter Valley.
- 10 km: off-road route following public footpaths and rights of way.
- Carol Weaver Fun Run: approximately 1 mile, off-road.
The 10 km route follows sections alongside the River Otter, through Harpford woods and along the old Sidmouth railway line, then across fields toward Fluxton and back to the village. The course includes uneven and wet sections; local puddles are commonly reported. The fun run passes through a field where adults are asked to accompany children under eight because cows may be present.
Age and prizes are specified: the 10 km has a 15 plus age limit, and the fun run welcomes all ages with under eight accompanied by an adult. Finishers aged 18 or older receive a bottle of Otter Ale with an alcohol and a zero alcohol option; custom medals or coasters are available as optional extras. Entry is managed through SiEntries with a member discount for UKA or ARC members. Camping on the playing field is available for an additional fee per pitch or tent.
