Otter Rail and River Run
Otter Rail and River Run is an off road running event on 11 July 2026, starting and finishing on the village playing field in Tipton St John. Courses follow public footpaths and rights of way through the Otter Valley and along the River Otter.
Distances
- 10 km Route through River Otter, Harpford woods and former Sidmouth railway line
- Fun Run Approximately one mile off road; adults should accompany under 8
Entries are open from 2 January to 4 July 2026. Entry fees are £22 for the 10 km and £5 for the Fun Run, with a £2 discount for UKA or ARC members. The 10 km accepts entries through SiEntries only; the Fun Run accepts entries via SiEntries or on the day.
Prizes and extras include a bottle of Otter Ale or zero alcohol option for all 18 and over finishers of the 10 km. Optional custom medals or coasters are available for the 10 km. Fun Run finishers receive a custom medal and a jelly snake. Age limits are 15 and over for the 10 km and all ages for the Fun Run with under 8s to be accompanied.
The event is organised by Tipton St John Playing Field Association in conjunction with Sidmouth Running Club and is held under ARC rules. Camping is permitted on the playing field at a nightly cost of £15 per camper or caravan and £10 per tent and can be added to an entry.
