Firecracker 5K and Family Fun Run, Wilmington
The Sixth Annual Firecracker 5K and Family Fun Run takes place during the 44th annual Fun on the Fourth Celebration at the Wilmington Town Common on June 25, 2026. The event includes a chip timed 5K and a separate family fun run.
The 5K course starts next to Wilmington High School on Route 62/Church Street, then proceeds north on Route 62, turns right onto Wildwood Street, left onto Woburn Street, left onto Federal Street, and left onto Middlesex Avenue, finishing beside the high school. The route features slow building inclines and declines and will be marked with cones and directions for runners and walkers.

Event services and awards include water stops, professional chip timing by RaceWire, free downloadable finish line photos, participant t-shirts for the first 100 registrants, live music at the finish line, cash prizes for the top three male and top three female finishers, and prizes for age group winners. Bib pickup is available early at the Fourth of July Headquarters at 142 Middlesex Avenue and on race day. Parking is provided at St. Thomas Church, 126 Middlesex Avenue.
