36th Firecracker 5k Run & 5k Walk
The Firecracker 5k is an annual athletic event held in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Organized by the Seashore Striders, this event serves as the seventh race in the Seashore Strider Championship Series. The race proceeds benefit local charities and individuals or families in need within the community.
Participants can choose between two main events:
- 3.11 Miles (5k Run)
- 3.11 Miles (5k Walk)
The course is located in the north pines area of Rehoboth Beach, situated just north of the Avenue. The route is characterized as being flat and fast. For the walking division, participants must follow specific technique requirements, maintaining ground contact at all times with a straightened leading leg according to standard guidelines.
An awards ceremony is held following the conclusion of the events. Custom awards are presented to the overall male and female champions, as well as masters champions. Age group awards are also provided for the top three finishers in sixteen different categories, ranging from ages 9 and under to 80 and over. In the walking division, medals are awarded to the top five male and female finishers. Participants registered by the specified deadline are guaranteed a custom printed towel.
Timing is managed using the Chronotrack B Chip system. Registered participants are automatically entered into the Seashore Strider Championship Series, which tracks performance over multiple races throughout the season. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
