Cape Gazette Independence Day Firecracker 5k Run & 5k Walk : Rehoboth Beach
The event features two 3.11 mile distances hosted by Seashore Strider Event Production, Inc. in Rehoboth Beach at 1 Grove Park. Proceeds benefit local charities and individuals or families in need.
Registration is offered online and by mail. Entry fees are tiered with lower pre-event rates and higher late and race‑day fees. Participants registered by the organizer's stated deadline are guaranteed a race shirt; later registrations receive shirts on a first come basis.
The course is described as flat and fast, running through the north pines of Rehoboth Beach just north of the Avenue. Timing is provided using the Chronotrack B Chip system managed by the organizer.
Awards are given to overall male and female champions, overall male and female masters (40+), and the top three male and female finishers in 16 standard age categories from 9 and under through 80 plus. Walk awards are medals for the top five male and female walkers. Awards are presented within 20 minutes after the final finisher; unclaimed awards may be picked up locally or shipped for a postage fee.
This event is part of the Seashore Striders Championship Series. Series qualification requires completing specified 5 mile and 5k events and completing at least one listed "Strider Be Kind Good Deed" during the series.
