The Cape Gazette 36th Firecracker 5K Run & Walk is a July 4, 2026 event in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, produced by Seashore Strider Event Production in cooperation with the Cape Gazette. The event benefits the Cape Gazette Charitable Foundation.
Race options include a 5k run, a 5k walk, and a Kid's Tot Trot for children under 8 that covers 200 meters out and back. The 5k course is described as flat and fast through the north pines just north of the Avenue. Chip timing will be used with the Chronotrack B Chip system.
Registration is available online through RunSignUp or by mail to Seashore Striders at their Lewes, DE address. Early bird, pre, and race-day fee tiers are noted in the registration information. Entries received by the stated deadline are guaranteed a custom printed T-shirt; later entries are subject to availability. No registration is required for the Kid's Tot Trot.
Awards include overall male and female champions, masters categories, and age-group prizes across 16 age divisions. Walk awards are medals for the top five men and top five women in the walk division.
