Cape Gazette 36th Firecracker 5K Run & Walk
The Cape Gazette 36th Firecracker 5K Run & Walk is a community road event held in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. It is presented by Seashore Strider Event Production and serves as a fundraiser for the Cape Gazette Charitable Foundation. The event is also one of the Seashore Strider Championship Series races.
The course is described as flat and fast through the north pines of Rehoboth Beach, just north of the Avenue. Timing is provided using the Chronotrack B Chip system. Race amenities include a produced finish line, custom printed T-shirts, custom awards and an awards ceremony held within 20 minutes after the final finisher. Awards are given to overall male and female champions, overall masters (40 plus), top three finishers in multiple age categories and walk awards for the top five men and women. Missed awards may be picked up locally or shipped for a postage fee.
Registration is offered online and by mail using the event entry form. Early bird registration is listed at $30 through June 21, with a higher pre registration fee period and a higher race day fee. Participants registered by the stated deadline are guaranteed a T-shirt. The event also includes a Kid's Tot Trot for children 8 and under and a Stars, Stripes & Stride costume contest with multiple prize categories.
