The Firecracker 5K/10K is a 37th annual race hosted by the Rotary Club of Bryson City on July 4th. It takes place at Riverside Park (Riverfront Park) in Bryson City, North Carolina.

Race Details
The course for the 5k starts and finishes in the historic town of Bryson City and goes through the Deep Creek Community, which is described as the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The event is part of a larger holiday celebration, the Freedom Festival, which includes all-day family events and fireworks in the evening. Other local activities like whitewater rafting, train rides, and waterfall hikes are also mentioned.
A commemorative race shirt is included for participants who register by June 10th; shirts for later registrations are not guaranteed.
Awards are given to overall male and female winners. There is also a Challenge Trophy for runners who can beat the 2024 overall winning times. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in numerous age groups, from 9 and under up to 80 and above.
Packet pickup is available on July 3rd at BC Outdoors on Main Street and on race morning at 101 Mitchell Street.
